Spring Bear Sighting
After an unseasonably cool May, the warm weather has finally returned to the Yosemite area. Coincidentally we saw our first bear on one of our first tours of the season. It appeared to be a yearling and like many sightings throughout the year this bear was sniffing at fallen logs and in opportune places it was using its claws and great strength to access termites and ants whose nests are found inside rotting logs. One of our guests had spotted the bear and we soon found a safe place to pull off the road and walk back to a place that we could view the bear without disturbing it. Eventually it foraged off in the opposite directions from us, so at that point we walked back to our van and continued our tour. We also saw Mule Deer and coyote that day.
